Iconcepts Travel Charger for Prism

I received an iconcepts travel charger for my prism for Christmas, and brought with me on my extended vacation to try out. The first time it charged fine, but since then it doesn't seem to be charging at all.

I forgot to bring the directions so it's possible I'm doing something wrong, but as far as I can tell, all you need to do is plug it into the wall and into the prism. Any suggestions?

When I plug it into the wall the light on the AC plug is green until I attach the other end to the prism and then it turns red. The prism charging light flashes for a couple of times and then goes solid. I'm pretty sure the prism's charging light flashed until it was charged on the initial use. I can use the prism when it's plugged in, and it acts fully charged, but when I remove it, it returns to about a 1/3 charge. I have charged it overnight several times but it doesn't seem to have made a difference since the initial charge.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Cool I had the same problem w/my Prism...

and that charger. I have it in my car to return it, but checked VisorCentral's Discussion groups as a last chance (search: Prism Recharging). Some people had success by attaching the charger to the Visor and doing a Hard Reset. I did this and everything has been fine since. Hope it works for you!

Read the other thread that discusses this. All you need to do is a soft reset while connected to the charger... there's no need to erase all your data in the process.

Post iConcepts travel charger & VisorPhone

For the record, the iConcepts travel charger WILL NOT charge a VisorPhone plugged into a Visor Deluxe.

I was under the impression these chargers were universal, but apparently not. I also tried a soft reset while the charger was plugged in.

FWIW,
click here for info on the charger. Anyone want a very slightly used one for their Prism ? $15 shipped - PM me.

That doesn't make sense. That terminal on the Deluxe is a straight
passthrough to the springboard module. Maybe the charger is
defective. Have you checked the voltage output with a multimeter?
You should have slightly over 6VDC output.

thx for the reply - i thought the wiring was straight-thru.

after dusting off my vm & measuring pins 4 & 7 - the iConcepts charger = 7.58v - as a vm check the official visorphone supply = 6.01v (as you say).

would the prism charge with 7.58v - if not, the iConcepts is going back to the factory.

thanks again,

AndyHN

Yes, it will charge whith up to 10v that I have seen. I would check
to see if you are getting voltage to the springboard pin.
