Question

Is there a way to have a total backup of all Apps and EVERYTHING for Install into the Visor from a PC without having to use the PC Install in Hotsync software?

My Visor gets Fatal Errors every once in awhile and I have to do a total reset (batteries out for half a minute). Of course everything gets lost, but I Hotsync a backup every day. I would like to be able to use the Hotsync Manager to quickly load EVERYTHING back into the Visor all at once in one simple step when my Visor crashes again, making it EXACTLY the way it was before.

Is this possible?

Lightbulb

I realize you are asking about restoring from the PC, but the Backup Module backs up EVERYTHING - exactly as it is on the Visor.

To be more friendly:

Try BackupBuddy http://www.backupbuddy.com You can download a 30-day trial there.

Hope this helps!

Going by the number of posts, Rockreid is a probably a newbie. Why don't you tell him/her about BackupBuddy... they might not know anything about it.

I use it myself (along with the Backup Module), but I've never restored from it. It's supposed to work that way (everything back to how it was at the last hotsync), but I can't give Rockreid any specifics on a restore.

Cool

Hey there backup folks,

Backup module is cool! it takes a complete image of your 8Mb or 2Mb Visor RAM. This is the best security I have ever felt with a Palm device.
I like Backup Bitster too. I find BackupBuddy too confusing - you end up with two backup folders and a mess to my mind. The System conduit backs up any file with the Backup bit set (one of the file attributes of any Visor file - use Z'catalog or Rsrcedit to seem 'em if you are curious). Backup Bitster allows you to set this bit for any or all files. The one thing which this program lacks is the ability to do one-time settings. I dont want to backup things every time. I would like to be able to mark sets of files for backup. Roll-on Backup Bitster 2.0 with an interface like the Apple Control Panel Extensions Manager.

(Shameless Plug) I also have a program named SafeSync, which will ensure that everything gets backed up on a HotSync. It is shareware $5, and runs completely on the palm (no PC counterpart). Anyway if you want to check it out, go to www.pointopia.com/m1ke08

I hope it can help you.
