Anyone know if, say, this is faster than an iPaq w/I.E.? (I'm sure it is, I just wanted to be *certain*!)

Registered... downloaded... installed... surfed!!!

Quite nice from the speed aspect, though I've found it's best to turn off images altogether (generally they're too big for the Visor screen anyway).

It has a few quirks but their web site says it's still being refined.

I can't complain too much... after all, it was free!

Well, it is true that text loads faster, but graphics are REAL slow.

I would have to say that the time it takes to load the complete page with text and graphics is a lot faster on AvantGo rather than Blazer.

Also, there's no "refresh" button.

Question Color Graphics?

James/Mark:

From the photo of the Visor screen it appears that the browser displays graphics in color. Yes/No?

When using the Blazer browser, are you going through a proxy server or are the Web pages going directly to the Blazer?
With AvantGo, OmniSky, YadaYada, etc. their proxy servers reduce the graphics to the appropriate size; whereas if the Web page is coming to Blazer "as is" then the Visor/Blazer has to reduce the graphic down to size. The larger the graphic, the more intense it is on the Visor.

According to the PDF documentation it's using a proxy server. The link to the proxy server is encrypted.

It seems like you should be able to bookmark things easily but I can't find anything. Do you have to enter addresses manually? Otherwise seems to work fairly well for me.

bookmarks

when at the page you wish to save hit the little "paper icon" at top. It will come up in a window you can edit or save the way it filled it in, pretty nice!

The browser is a color browser. One thing I don't like is the fact that I have to sign in everytime I use it. Can't it remember who I am?

One thing I wish they would do is format the screen to the size of my Visor. That way I don't have to scroll to the left to see more of the page.

Other than that, it isn't to bad. Works well with my Omnisky.

I have to admit... I am almost a keeper. Although, it is quote funny how users think alike. I also am not interested in color (black and white version?). And I do not like the scrolling.

BUT... I will admit that as soon as I did log in (which is such a pain, just remember me) and I turned off the online images I gasped at the speed it came down. Now having a 56K and trying out ProxiWeb, Browse-It, and AvantGo... this browser is so much faster. By default, I never load graphics.

I think the way to type in the URL is 10 times more efficient than ProxiWeb and Avantgo. The bookmarks are very organized with categories and then the vert. listing.

Here's the kicker, I am 10K short of being able to store it on my SpringPort. Also, the refresh option is Shortcut-R.

Talking

I have to say I am pretty impressed. Even with graphics turned on, it's faster than Avantgo and Proxiweb, and with graphics off, it lives up to its name.

This is one speedy browser. I just received my Minstrel S last night and saw that this was availble shortly after becoming disgusted with the speed of the Yada browser and AvantGo.

I do have one complaint however. Why is this thing only displaying in 2 bit greyscale (4 colors) on my Platinum? It would be a great benefit if it were able to display 4 bit greyscale (16 colors).

Are there any other browsers that do work in 16 color mode?

How long did it take them to send you a password? I've been waiting over 3 hours for an email from them.

My big complaint is that you cannot go to pages that require a login & password. Avantgo & eudora web both allow you to get into restricted web sites.

I also do agree that graphics are slower on this browser than they are on Avantgo.

Other than that, it seems pretty good.

almost immediately... I used web-based email for these subscriptions and had it before I logged in.

Strange...I got mine almost instantaneously.

After installing the Blazer, my Prism totally crashed.
I am using the Thinmodem. Took a lot of time and trouble to delete the application, and restore everything from Backup module.
I tried a completely fresh download and setup - same crash happened again. Now it is totally off my system, and I won't try it again.
Anyone else have trouble using Blazer with a Prism and Thinmodem?

Well, after getting my password and downloading/installing, I have nothing bad to say about Blazer. In a quick test, I paired it aganst Browse-it form Puma Tech, which came with my Thinmodem. Well, I can tell you that the Blazer killed Browse-it. It took roughly 5 sec. for Blazer to load up drudgereport.com, while it took Browse-it 30 sec.m then it crashed! I think i'm going to remove Broswse-it and replace it with Blazer!
