Question

I purchased the Total Recall module - it is great for the car or other places where grafitti entry is out of the question. It works fine in the cradle and fine in the Visor DX I have. But when I sync it has problems. I sync but nothing shows up on the TR desktop... I called Targus who suggested that first I install the latest version of hot sync manager... after that change the batteries, do a soft reset etc etc. I have done so but syncing now only allows ONE of the many files on the TRM to make it to the desktop. And that one file won't play....

Has anyone else had this problem? If so what can fix it?

You have to have the module in your Visor when you hotsync to get the files to transfer. Try that.

Partial Recall

I did have the module inserted but only the one file appeared (I checked - there were seven files on the module both labelled and unlabelled, categorized and uncategorized)

Any other ideas?

Did you ever find the solution? I am having the same problem except that I can not sync any messages. I ran all of the updates from the Handspring site for my VDX. Targus says you need v.3.1 of Hotsync. My visor reports v.3.0.H. I did not see an upgrade on Handspring for this.

Thanks,
Doug

My hotsync manager reports 3.1.0Hb. If you go to http://www.handspring.com/support/softwareup.jhtml there's an updater for the Vdx from July 2000; I think that's what I had installed.

Thanks, I had already tried all of the "Updates, Patches, and Utilities", but what I had not tried was the new installation software. After I posted the previous message I installed the newer desktop software. This updated the Hotsync to v.3.1.Hb. Now everything works.

Doug, I did fix the problem - I found 3.1 on Handsprings website - http://www.palmgear.com/handspring/...el=178&SID=

But I think the problem was compounded because[groans with embarassment] I didn't have the boxes checked on the screen showing what files were on the Visor.... (check them to transfer tho' it doesn't say that anywhere in the documentation....)

Having said that I cannot transfer the files now (I reinstalled 3.1 for another reason) so let me know if you get yours to work.....

As noted, once I updated to the 3.1Hb desktop, everything worked.

You are right, there is no mention of checking off those boxes. I happened to find that information on Targus' website (though it may not have been there when you originally posted started this thread).

For now, everything is working as it should.

Doug
