deleting a Conduit

There is a conduit in my Hotsync that I need to delete. There is no option for "Do Nothing" I can not find anything about this in the Help Files.

The conduit is for TrueSync and I have deleted the program, but the conduit remains.

Any help?

Wow, it's been a long time since I've done this, but I thought that one of the options in Hotsync manager for the TrueSync conduit was to restore the default Palm conduits.

If you open HotSync manager and click on Custom...
Then doubleclick the TrueSync conduit, what options ARE available to you?

You may just have to reinstall the HotSync manager from CD to eliminate the TS conduit.

It's supposed to be removed automatically during uninstall, but I remember having to take extra steps to remove it.

From the Custom box, I choose the TrueSync line and
"Change", I get a seperate box with the choice to Start TrueSync. There is no choice to delete or disable the conduit.

I will try reinstalling the desktop, but it will mean downloading it from Handspring and I am at home with a dial up connection.

OK, it sounds like the behavior of the conduit properties from within hotsync manager has changed since I last used it - over a year ago. Sorry I couldn't be more help.

there's another thing about TrueSync

Much like EasySync for synchronization to Lotus Notes, TrueSync Plus leaves some hidden "ghost files" on the Visor that will misdirect the flow of your Datebook and other databases during your normal Hotsync. I think Handspring Technical Support has an e-mail solution about how to get rid of TrueSync. You will need to use a utility like Filez or Beambox to see the ghost files such as "TSMULTIDAY" and others all beginning with the letters TS. If you don't want to hunt & delete for them, just hard reset your Visor instead.

I think you should be able to go into REGEDIT in Windows and find some traces of TrueSync in a couple of places. Obviously don't try this unless you have fiddled with the registry before.

The Starfish website does have instructions for removing TrueSync registry entries.

Part of the problem is I was unable to get TrueSync to sync with the Visor. I was hoping to move numbers to my phone (the software came with the phone).

I finally removed it from my Palm Desktop sync list by completely removing Desktop and the sync conduit file and then reinstalling desktop. Lind of a radical approach, but I could not figure out another way. I wish there was some way to edit the conduit file.

Here's a link (hope it works) to Starfish's uninstall procedure:
http://techsupp.starfish.com/cgi-bi...bHQmcF9wYWdlPTE*&p_li=

But I still don't think it will help you remove the conduit. The automated procedure should have done that. You will probably have to edit the registry.

You may want to use the conduit configurer for occasions like this. I think it is supplied as part of the Palm development stuff, but you can sometimes find it available on it's own. Do a search for condcfg and you should be able to find it.
