Exclamation Backup module froze during "verifying databases" stage of backup

This problem has never been reported (to my knowledge) on this forum.

This morning, my backup module caused my Visor Platinum to freeze during the initial "Verifying Databases" stage of the backup process. Earlier the previous day, I needed to restore my Visor from the module because of a rapid battery drain--an occassional problem with NiMHs...

Somehow the restoration was corrupt, because while the Visor for the most part performed normally, it would not allow a backup and also would suffer a fatal error if I attempted to access the Delete applet. (I suspect any attempt to poll the databases (i.e. "Info," "Beam," etc.) would have resulted in this crash as well.) So I was unable to delete any potentially offending system extension or hack.

Turning off all hacks and system extensions (via warm reset) would not solve the problem.

I was able to solve the problem by backing up everything to the PC, performing a hard reset, and then restoring my Visor from my PC (but only after removing any system extensions from the backup folder on my pc--I installed the system patch after the restoration).

From this point on, the backup module worked properly.

Exclamation Overclocking can cause this

Overclocking your Visor with Afterburner or similar programs can cause this exact problem. It has happened to me many times when I forgot to turn of Afterburner before I started a backup.
