Those of us who purchased a Prism in December - like yours truly - will be sorely disappointed if the price comes down much. I guess I can console myself with the thought that some of you can join me in enjoying color.

No Doubt!!! Can't wait to be able to buy a Prism w/o feeling guilty for squandering household money on a new, colored "gadget."

Now all we need is an Arnold Schwarzenegger movie called "The Edge" .

No, I think he was referring to extending the springboard port, (which I don't think is easily done, cpu bus signals don't like that sort of thing)..

My idea was more like the markspace cable.

On the topic of cost, I would bet the current visors stay as priced and the "Edge" is either the same cost as a Platinum/Prism (depending on if the Edge is really in color or not), or possibly it might actually be higher in price, I can see Handspring charging more for a thinner model, where the size/form factor is the premium feature. (i.e. $499 US)

Perhaps the snap will look something like this CF-II adapter for the HP Jornada:

But if you ask me, we need more miniaturization of springboard modules than of the visors themselves! (most of this could be accomplished with a breakthrough in battery technology, since a lot of the bulk of big springboards comes from the on-board batteries: minstrel, SpringPort modem, Geode, VisorPhone, etc.)

Cool news

I just read from some posters at PDAgeek and PADBuzz that Sparco.com has these models on their handspring list.

VISOR EDGE SILVER . $370.59
VISOR EDGE BLUE . $370.59

I went to sparco but they took the listing off. Hmmm...more rumors.

Twist for low-power filesharing?

Just a thought.. What if the Twist is an inter-Visor cable, like a twisted-pair lan cable for null-modems? either through the springboard or the synch port? With the advent of bluetooth, this doesn't seem likely, but it would make for better multiplayer/collaborative connections than across the IR port... Personally I'd put my money more on an extension cable for the springboard, so modules could be connected away from the port itself (like mentioned earlier).

Ok. enough thinking for me.. it's dangerous..

The cable would be cool, particularly for GPS modules - velcro the module up on your dash, have the unit positioned someplace where it was more visible.

A cable would be cool, particularly for folks who have a GPS module. You could velcro or otherwise secure the module on the dash, and then have your Visor someplace lower for better visibility.

Hmm, some things like the form factor may be great on the Edge.
But do you really think it will be the new high-end palm ?
As far as i know the Edge has only a monochrome display. If the Edge is Handspring's answer to Palm's m505, they should develop a color version at least.

I think the Edge should not be AS good as the m505, it should even be BETTER.

when I check out staples website, the visor edge section has been removed.
Maybe handspring told them to do that?

I bet you $5 that the person who deals with retail shops over at HAND had a nice screaming session with staples/sparco. I was thinking, maybe what Hand is doing, and hell, I've said this before on another topic, they gonna phaze out the current deluxes, and make new ones, that are like the plat, in different colors, release the edge, first without color, and later, in color. Maybe to drive down price of the prism, or maybe to follow palm a bit. They'll have 2 color handhelds, just like palm?

Question

Did anyone notice that if you do a search on the Sparco site for Handspring, there is an item called the "VISOR PLATINUM GRAPHITE " listed? Here is a link to the product page:

http://www.sparco.com/cgi-bin/wfind2?spn=A161833

Could be that they are in fact going to upgrade the Visor Dlx to Platinum specs. Comments?

Ok, this is what they said. They said, that they don't have notes on it, and that it isn't in stock yet, and that the manuf hasn't given a release date for it yet, but they will do some research, and get back to me. Nice service, actually call me back.

If you search for visor on sparco, it shows plat graphite, and silver. Curiouser and Curiouser. I should really combine these posts
