Question

So... which is better? Omnisky or Yada Yada? There price is identical, isn't it? And I'm guessing most metropolis areas have good coverage (I work from Baltimore to New York to Boston.

So is there any reason one would choose Omnisky over Yada Yada? Or Yada Yada over Omnisky?

Thanks,
Cathy Towner

I chose omnisky since I believe they are the "leader" for PDA wireless connectivity. Thus far, the Omnisky 2.0 software has been a bit buggy...but the tech support has been supurb. They should have an updated version out soon.

Depends on which Visor you have. OmniSky will not work on the Visor Solo or Deluxe - it needs OS 3.5. YadaYada will work on the Deluxe. (Of course, there both Novatel Minstrel S). Omnisky, I believe, is AT&T wireless, while YadaYada is Verizon.

I've used my YadaYada in L.A. and New York so far.

The omnisky software need palm 3.5, but the hardware will work on a visor.

GoAmerica Is BAD

Goamerica is the worst wireless web option there is! They may have tons of areas coverged but 10 bucks more than yadayada and omnisky and...10 cents for EVERY kb not generated by their software. The charges would be H U G E!

Angry wrong?!?!?

yadayada and omnysky are $29 per month??? Yes any pop3 email works. Goamericas web browser allows ANY WEBSITE to be viewed! With compression done on their servers it is very fast and Secure enough that many big Corps use it for all secure wireless data. Goamericas version for the palm 5 blasts omnyskys service out of the water!(my partner had omny and dumped it when he saw one of our salesmans palm 5 with Goamerica service!!) I am a long time user of Goamericas service and I am 100% happy.Goweb and Gomail are all you need! why would you have to pay for using other software when they are the most usefull??
Most Goamerica users are Mobile professionals such as myself, and not personal users as you appear to be.

Just my view...

It appears that a majority of GoAmerica's coverage actually comes from the Bell (Verizon) or AT&T CDPD networks.

...GoAmerica service works wherever CDPD coverage is available.

They actually have 2 plans available. Go.Lite is 9.95/mo for the first 25kb of data (.10/kb after that). Go.Unlimited is 49.95/mo with unlimited access. That .10/kb mentioned by BrianX124 is for content accessed with non-GoAmerica software. I guess if their Go.Web and Go.Mail are that good, the extra charge would never come into play.

They also claim to support external POP3 mail through their Go.Web service (though it doesn't specify send and receive from the device).

With GoAmerica, you also get a free e-mail account. What if you already have an e-mail address? No problem! MyGo.Web lets you access your POP3 mailboxes.

What about fun programs like Aol Instant Messagner, Maybe I would prefer a differnt mail program, maybe I want to talk to my friend with Yahoo messanger while in a cab when he lives in Japan. I dont think you can do that with go-web now can you?

ok, i have been using Omnisky for a couple days now and other than one thing - have been happy with the coverage. if my cellphone don't work, neither does my omnisky. yeah, of course it could be better, so can my cellphone service.

i did manage to win a auction for a Kiss Lunchbox for part of my wife's christmas gift using the Ebay PQA,double checked prices on Lego Mindstorms and got directions to a store we were trying to find - all while christmas shopping around town (nyc)...pretty cool!

i recommend Omnisky.

now the one thing that gives me grief - my only major crash was because the AOL instant Messenger prc locked up and caused a hard reset. what version works for y'all? kinda the last link in the chain to total happiness and company impletation.

thanks!

steve
