Here's a thought... A springboard module that plugs into the visor and sends power to the battery compartment through an A/C adapter or a car's cigarette lighter. In the battery compartment would be special batteries that could recharge when the adapter is plugged in. Whatdya think?

Sounds to me like something that might be more usable if it were to attach to the bottom of the unit, instead of requiring the springboard slot... good idea generally, though!

It would be really cool to have that, sence I spend a lot of time with my visor near a power outlet.. But having it take up a springboard? Then you can't use the power hungry minijam. The rechargable batteries is a great idea, and if it could like of to the bottom of the visor it would be even better. OR how about this, have the recharge unit hook up to the visors batteries, buy like a plastic form of to AAA's. Then be able to disconnect the power adapter, through the batteries, yet keep those im. It would make life easier. (If only you could imagine what I'm thinking of.. I suck at writing!) THANK YOU JAMES!!! FOR ALL THE WORK YOU DID ON VISORCENTRAL!!! AND ALL THE OTHER PEOPLE HELPING etc...

Where was my head? A springboard module wouldn't be as efficient than an attachment for the synch port. My question is whether the synch port can transfer power better than a springboard module since most modules take power from the batteries in the Visor?

Direct Power Plus Innovations at www.dpp.com has something similar for the Palm series, and I was told three weeks ago they'd be selling it for the Visor in "two weeks." Sigh.

It's actually very easy to do this (Maybe words are easier than actually doing it, but hey). What you need to do is get a series of resistors to take the car's unstable 12v down to 1.5v (this is an AAA battery's power). Then hook it into the power connectors of the Visor, and voila, you have an adapter for the Visor to work in the car.

There is a company that is in the process of making a rechargable battery pack and automobile charger adapter for the Visor. Their web site is:

A friend of mine has their unit for his Palm III and loves it. Says that there is no problem with having it charge while setting in the hot sync cradle. I just wish they would release the Visor version like NOW!

If you have a springboard to charge the visor while you are in the car, then you can't put the GPS springboard in.. just a thought.

The current Visor does not support charging voltage on the HotSync connector (there is a provision for it so future models probably will). As for the Springboard slot, a module can draw power from the Visor but not vice versa.
