Digital Link E-mail?

I have no problem getting e-mail on my Digital Link (with visor prism) but for the life of me cannot sent e-mail via my smtp server via sprint (smtp.nyu.edu). I've even tried smtp.sprintpcs.com to no avail. All I want to do is send e-mail wirelessly. Tried one touch, multi mail, and a few others. How are people doing this?
