Angry

I have a Micron running NT 4.0 with a serial cradle plugged into COM1. Our company IT person installed the hotsync/palm desktop software onto the NT system, but when I go to Start/Programs, nothing is there for Palm.
Using Explorer, I found the Palm directory in the Program Files directory, and click on Palm.exe or Pilot.exe I get an error message indicating Invalid Configuration, Terminating the Palm Application.

Since I am not allowed to change anything system related or install any software without "parental supervision", I need to be able to tell our techs how to install the SW and make it work on my system for me. The IT guy installed it using an administrators login, I think he has to install it using my login. I will have him check the setting for the Com port to make sure they are set at 3f8, IRQ4 and 9600 B.
Any other suggestions would be welcome.
Jack

The tech needs to add your account to the local admin group. The tech then needs to login under your account, and install the software. The tech should then remove your account from the local admin group. The proccess will have to be repeated whenever you need to update/install sync software. BTW, this applies to Win2K as well. This should give those outside IT an indication of why non-PC mediated sync servers are so desireable in a corporate environment . . .

BTW, if you are in a position to do so, get a copy of your corporate PC policy(ies). It may be possible to get your rights permanently increased on your desktop or laptop. Alternatley, especially with laptops, you may be able to get a system with Win9x or WinME; and bypass this whole issue.
