Cool

MWAHAHAHA! It works-- they said I was mad.... BUT WHO's MAD NOW?!?!?

It was just a few minutes of work, (actually, it took me about an hour, but I was fiddling around with three different kinds of LED), my serial cradle has a nice red light it it which flickers during a hotsync.

I pretty much just followed the instructions on the Palm de Cool website(second link marked ENGLISH on their menubar). I didn't have a blue chip LED kicking around so I used a normal sized super-bright red one. That's why it's off centre. The 100ohm resistor suggested works just fine.

Oh yeah, and he's not kidding-- those screws where a FRICKIN' pain to take out.

That's GREAT. Can I do that with a USB cradle, or do I need to spend my money on a Serial one. I was considering doing that a long time ago when the instructions came out, but sorta forgot about it. You have sparked my intrest.

Now my only problem is getting the courage to break into my Prism cradle. 50 ucks is alot to waste if it goes wrong, but it would be SOO cool to have another red light in my room at night (right now the count is up to like 10, the more, the merrier ).

I dunno. like the instructions say, I havn't even seen the inside of a USB cradle, much less the prism one. But crack the cradle open and take a look. its easy to but back together(at least mine was), and youre unlikely to break anything. As with all electronics, if you're gonna touch the insides, make sure you've grounded yourself by touching bare metal somewhere on your plugged in computer.

Question

How would that work, I mean putting a light in the Prism cradle? It is completely opaque... which would mean that you would see nothing... right? I can see lighting up a transparent one... but the prism's is not transparent.

I suppose you would drill a hole in the cradle somewhere...

Well I just tried to take apart the cradle, and the back screw would not come at all. I think that I need to take a screwdriver to it with a better handle tonight, and see what happens.

Prism Cradle

I just had a cool idea for the prism Cradle, What if you took the button from the Deluxe Cradle and put it in the Prism Cradle? Then used a blue LED, That would look awesome, I'm gonna go buy a serial Prism cradle now. C-Ya L8R!
