OK, this new springboard module combining GSM communication and GPS looks exciting, but I'm not sure I fully understand what it's supposed to be able to do. Especially the GSM part. Can anyone explain in less technical language?????

It appears like the GSM part (which is pretty much a cell phone), is for data communications only. To send and receive GSM text messages, and browse WAP content.

GSM is a cell phone standard used all over Europe, and in most larger cities in the US.
