Thanks, I've been waiting for the chess module. What's even better, no PalmGear!!

The only thing I can't figure out is when you add a recipe does it actually get written to the module? Looks like a great idea for my wife. Anyone get one yet?

Arrow What?

I think Game Modules, Book Type modules fall in the "dumb" module category. What is the point when you can these same things in software form?

I agree the chess module is kind of dumb, how much can a chess game take up...? 300k? Its only really usefull for Solo users.

On the other hand, a recipe module seems kinda conveniant, 2500 recipes must take up a sizeable chunk and recipes are something that I wouldn't need with me all the time. Plus, if I wasn't able to remove it quickly my friends might fint it and might make fun of me!

I'm starting to think the same way, I just got a MemPlug and may just get the chess program. I have ThinkDB for recipes.

yardie - What software program program are you using/do you suggest for recipes?

enhanceyourlife - Do you have a transferable front end for recipes (and recipes )in thinkDB? How many recipes have you got entered?

LanMan - Are you w/ pocketexpress? Do you have an answer top my original post?

Don't have any entered yet, I'm also considering making a TealFolio of it. I have the recipes from my website as an AvantGo channel.
ThinkDB doesn't really do a front end/back end type of thing. I'm still evaluating what I'm going to do with it all.

No coville, I do not work for PocketExpress. You'll notice that my profile lists net eng./college teacher. I have noticed several recipe databases for HanDBase. I have not checked for ThinkDB.

I might point out that the Chess program has 3000 classic games stored on it. That's a sizable library, and perhaps justifies the module concept.

Personally, I don't not find any need of modules beyond memory, and network connectivity modules. That is why I am seriously considering the HandEra unit.

Is this why you call yourself LANman?

Coville -- DO a search for "recipe" at www.palmgear.com and see what you come up with. There are a lot of alternatives out there.

I just received an email from Pocket Express and what they say is that any customization (saved chess games and personal recepies etc) are stored on the handheld.

Here is the reply I received which gives more info:

Dear Brian,
Thank you so much for your interest in Pocket Recipes by Pocket Express.

In response to your first inquiry, Does it create combined lists from more then one recipe?, Pocket Recipes does in fact create a combined list of all ingredients into the shopping list but it will not merge 2 instances of a
like ingredient. 1 Egg + 2 eggs does not become 3 eggs.

In response to your second inquiry, Do added recipes get stored on the module or the Visor memory? Added recipes get saved on the Visor itself and not on the module. The size of the file will be determined by the actual size of
the recipe. The average size of recipes would be between
1-3K

If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to contact us at [email protected]

Regards,
Your Pocket Express Technical Support Team

Question Just wondering?

can you have the shopping list items disappear from the screen when you check them off?
And can the lists be exportable to other applications like the memo pad or Handyshop?
