Hi,

after doing a search operation following message pops up and the Visor crashes:

FatalError
MemoryMgrNew.c
Line:4128, Invalid handle

There is no way to get the visor back to work but reseting and pushing "button up" at once.

Now every time I click the Launcher, this message appears.

A hard reset and a recent backup helped for a while but the problem showed up again after a search.

I got several apps installed including Hackmaster...

Any help is highly appreciated.

Thanks,

Benne

I have gotten the same message several times while doing a search. I have had to do a hard reset everytime. I called Handspring today (2/21) and they are sending me a replacement.

Can anyone tell me exactly what this error is. IS it a hardware or software error.

Question

I had a similar poblem:
The system reported a "fatal error, MemoryMgrNew.c, Line 2858, chunk over-locked"
and then the system froze. Only a hard-reset brought it back to life. As I was presently not running any Hacks, I think that it might be a problem with the OS in the ROM.
I called CS - also because of persistent syncing problems - and they promised to send my a replacement visor.
I would also like to know what causes these Problems. As I didn't hear of anybody else having these problems, I guess that the unit is simply defective.

I will keep you posted if my replacement works better... (once I get it)

Knowing how the palm search feature works, it could very well be an application you have installed creating that error. When you do a find, each application gets called to the find themselves and return the results to be displayed. If an app you have installed does something wrong with that find, you would get that error every time until that app is deleted.

That would be my first guess. It might be something else instead...

Talking

Thanks to everyone helping me with my problem.

Here is the solution that works fine for a couple of days now.

I did a hard reset.
Hotsynced again the data only.
Did a clean install of the really important apps.
And it works again!

Thats all - very simple!
