Of course you need the extra bandwidth on your PDA. Maybe not on the boring greyscale Treo model or other boring greyscale Visor models (like my Deluxe), but certainly on the color Treo and on the color Sony Clie models or the M505. Especially since GPRS can support speeds upwards of 384kbps, which is comparable to some DSL lines in homes. What would you do with such bandwidth? You would watch news clips of CNN, get movie trailers, watch normal web sites load up quickly with color graphics (ever try to surf regular sites with the Visorphone?). Everything is enhanced with greater bandwidth and the possibilities are endless. You must be the only one here who doesn't agree with this fact.
The fact is that 3G techology is rolling out across the U.S. as we speak and HS will be releasing what it calls an advanced PDA/Phone combo which will instantly be outdated. You can bet that Samsung will be releasing a 3G WCDMA version of its PDA/Phonecombo sooner rather than later. I wouldn't be surprised if Sony entered the frey as well with a Clie 3G PDA/Phone Combo.
Trust me... I won't buy the Treo in its current state. I'll buy it in a year when the WCDMA 3G Color version is released and the price will be half what it is now to boot! This is just the way HS operates. Ask anyone who purchased a VP 8 months ago for $299.00!!! Where's HS's loyalty there?
