I am almost ready to purchase the handspring modem. I understand how proxiweb and proximail work (I think). My question is this; someone said they can use the modem to hotsync the visor? I assume they ment to hotsync avantgo but am I not getting the point here, or can you actually hotsync via modem? Also could some of you please describe how you are using the modem, and what you think the benifits are to have a modem with your visor? Thanks Frank

The button on the front of the modem module begins a modem hotsync with the settings you provide (either dial directly to a modem on your computer or dial to a network and connect to your computer on that network).

So, yup, you can even hotsync with your computer with the modem! One-touch button too!
