Cure for the Edges expansion problems

I was just reading a PDF file from Palm website the other day about the new expansion port/sync port on M500 & M505. It seems to be a very expandable technolgy, able to support much more than just Hotsync cradles & Keyboards. The pdf file also mentioned that Palm can license this technology to others. I think this would be a great option for any Edge replacement, and possibly Handspring's in general.

If any new edge came with the Palm connector, we could use the Keyboards and other accessories for the M50x line. And, Handspring would not have to reinvent the wheel! Of course, that leaves existing Edge users in a bad way, so maybe they could offer a very lucrative "trade up" program for existing Edge users.

While we are at it, these are my thoughts for the next edge. I think they are all realistic.

- 64K Color with reflective screen/good sidelight
- 16 MB RAM
- Palm style connector (Hotsync connector)
- sled style Springboard Expansion
- SD/MMC slot for Memory expansion (This should be a standard on all new Visors)
- OS 4.1 (Flash ROM would be nifty, but not a necessity)

Here is the link for the Pdf file.
