Exclamation Traveling abroad w/ Edge - Power & Other Issues

Hi All,

I'll be going to the UK, France, Spain, Italy, and the Philippines in about a month.

I'd like to bring my Edge with me so that I can type my journals of my trip. Here are some concerns that I have:

1) Where can I get power? Since I will not be hotsyncing at all (not going to bring my laptop - gotta travel light - going to bring a backup module, however) how will I get power to the edge? Do they make an AA battery pack? If so, how much power will that suck up? How many batteries will I have to bring on a 6-week trip?

2) Stowaway - I remember reading that now make stowaway keyboards for the edge, finally. However, I read somewhere that there is an ADAPTOR that I can buy for the edge and and use a stowaway built for the vdx, etc...true? false? If so, how much is the adaptor - I'd like to buy someone's used stowaway to save money.

Thank you!!!

Hi
Hope I can help

For power on the go, you might wanna check out this:

OR this:

A whole list of travel chargers are available @ here

As for Stowaways, I've read in the forums that you have to contact Targus' Customer Service and the cost is like around US$15.
The article can be found @ here

Unless your trip is before this date, you might want to inquire about this:
there is also a new keyboard that acts as a keyboard, case and stand all in one
check for it here:
q-pad keyboard

Schrader,

I checked out that q-pad - and it says it's availiable after "Jan 15,2002". Well it's way past that date - howcome we cant purchase it yet?

Zip-Zilla,

Anyidea how much the edge "eats" in AA batteries?

The Q-pad looks a little ugly, I have to say...

And MitzEclipse, nope, I don't know how the Edge eats those AA batteries... but it's stated in VC's review that each set of AA batteries can last 4-5 charges....

Maybe you should contact GadgetGuru (VisorSolutions.com) He's also from VC

With regard to power, you should be able to use the cradle with suitable plug adapters (the UK has completely different plugs from the Continent). I emailed Handspring UK before I travelled to Italy from the UK, and got a reply saying that the cradle works fine with a variety of different voltages. It worked fine for me. I suggest you try an email yourself, specifying the country your cradle was designed for. The cradle doesn't take up too much space in your luggage.
