Unhappy

All was very well with my Visor until....I downloaded AvantGo today. My fingers got ahead of me during the setup and at the part where I was back into the AG web page to finish the setup after downloading the program to my PC, I was supposed to perform a hotsynch before going to the next step. However, I did not hot synch and proceeded to the next step on the next web page and I guess there was some communication between the PC and Visor that got messed up. The next web page told me I didn't hot synch so I went back and hot synched and got a fatal error on the Visor (see below). I did a soft reboot since my Visor screen was locked up and did a successful hot synch and all seemed well. I added my channels. Next time I tried to hot synch I got another fatal error msg required a hard reboot. Next time I tried it was successful. But after several hot synchs and soft reboots (paper clip in the reset hole) a predictable pattern is developing that the first hot synch gets a fatal error and the next is successful and it alternates like this.

SO I deleted AvantGo and Mobile LInk by dragging them to the hammer icon (Launcher), problem remains. The message I get is:

Fatal Error
AMX HardwareEZ.c,
Line:293,IRQ3

Reset button appears on screen, but doesn't work. Off button doesn't work either.

I have Hackmaster, but no hacks. I reset Hackmaster. No change.

Any suggestions? Is it time to start all over from a clean Visor? How exactly would I go about starting from scratch again like a reformat? All my apps I downloaded still work fine and are on the PC so no huge deal to redo all installations, but not sure how and looking for guidance. Thanks in advance.

Try this: Launch your desktop program for the Visor. Click on HotSync, then Custom. Find the item "Mobile Link," single-click on it, and click on Change. Click on Do Nothing, then click on Set as Default. Exit the desktop program (if you feel like it), then HotSync. (Reason for this is if you delete AvantGo and Mobile Link from your Visor but leave the sync "conduit" active in the PC, it will try to sync something that isn't there.) If you can now HotSync without problems, good.
If you still need to try to reset your Visor completely, take the batteries out for a while--maybe half an hour or so--and reinstall them. That should clear the memory completely, and you can try HotSyncing your data back in.
Good luck.

Tom,

Thanks very much for the reply - you were the only one brave enough! I gave your suggestion a try - Mobile Link was still selected. Unfortunately that didn't seem to do it but was a darn fine effort. I wound up uninstalling everything, doing a hard reset (batteries out) and reinstalling all. So far with the basic apps all is well in the hot synch area. Will now slowly add apps one by one and try hotsynch. The alternating good/bad hotsynch was very strange and the hardware fatal error was not a good sign! I cannot use Backup - whatever is in there, is part of the problem. Thanks!
