I was eyeballing the Earthmate GSM road warrior kit in MicroCenter yesterday - GSM reciever/ map software/ plus wire to hook into your Palm(tm) computer. They show a regular Palm on the box, and it appears to hook into the same spot as the hotsync port.

However, I don't know if the connector on the Visor is different - anyone know if it will work??

If not, any ideas on how to make a cable/adapter, or maybe just how to hook up a regular GSM to my Visor?

I think it would be really handy to have directions and maps ready and waiting on trips instead of using a laptop/gsm or even paper maps which you have to spread out all over the car.

Some of the map software is REALLY good out there, I'd like to be able to take advantage of it.

chiror0b,

The visor has a different port than a Palm...

So it probably will not work.

unless somebody will invent a 'bridge' adaptor that will change the Visor port in apalm port. But I understand there are some electrical problems with that...

The big difference I believe is that the Palm is RS232 and the Visor is TTL level. But a RS232 converter could be added to the bridge to drive the GPS.

I agree this looks like a good product except for one thing; it will not do point to point driving. I will not buy one unless it has that feature. It should tell you to turn right etc.. I think this the entire reason to own something like this. So unless they add it I will not buy one.
