In fact, the Psion modem is a good solution, because it does support GSM, and acts as the modem for phones which have no intrinsic data capability, such as the popular Nokia 61xx series phones. (I believe the software modem solutions for these phones don't work on the Visor, but do on the Palm.) However, Psion must think North Americans are backwards, since the GSM capability has been left out of the North American product.
A way directly to wireless is to get yourself a (VERY expensive) data capable phone with an IR port, such as the Nokia 88xx.
