Desktop 4.0.1 error: Exprept.exe missing?

I had been using the new Palm 4.0.1 Desktop with my Visor Deluxe. This week I purchased a Prism and uploaded the CD software. This took me back to a previous version of Desktop, so I then installed the new 4.0.1 over it. Now I get a message: "Error: Exprept.exe module cannot be found" each time I open the Desktop. Despite the message the program seems to run correctly and I'm able to hot-sync without problems.

Anyone know what the "exprept.exe" module does? Is it something I need? How do I get rid of the error message?

It has to do with the desktop expense program. I am having the same problem and have not been able to fix it. I wish I could, because I really liked that aspect of the desktop application in previous versions. Everything else seems to work fine for me, too. Is there someone out there that knows how to remedy this problem?

I Had the samething happen yesturday. i went to the handsprings web site and downloaded it again. and installed that one. hey it works now. i kept re-installing thje one i already had butt the knew one fro hs web site some how worked? try6 it

I visited Handspring tech support and emailed the error problem. They responded ...

If I do uninstall the current version, will I also loose my setups for hot-sync conduits? Will I have to re-install all my independent Palm programs again?

OK. MY problem solved. Handspring tech support should be ashamed for not knowing that Exprept.exe IS a part of the Desktop software. It's even mentioned in the User's Guide as being part of the Expense feature.

I created a quick expense report on the handheld so there would be an information file to work with. Then I checked out the hot-sync custom setup and discovered there was no "Expense" conduit installed for the transfer of Expense info into an Excel spreadsheet. There was also no EXPENSE icon button on the left side of the Desktop, so obviously something was missing. I then re-installed Desktop 4.0.1 over the current one, and magically both the button and the conduit appeared. And I didn't get the ERROR message.

I then hot-synced to see if the Expense info I had created would transfer to an Excel file. Didn't work - but only because I hadn't set the conduit to an active state. After changing that setting in the CUSTOM option, all transfered correctly and I'm now a happy camper.
