Smile my new visor. a dream ...

im an owner of a prism and i really like my prism.
i would purchase a new model by handspring ... but this model must have:

slim metallic case like the edge but without springboard adaptor
high resolution color display with soft graffiti area like the handera
additional card slot for cf or mmc or sd for maps etc.
built in (wireless) modem
min 16 mb of ram
speakers
a faster processor

this is my wish visor. but i dont think we will see something like this the nearer future ... sometimes i think this ugly wince devices will make the race. the developers are faster, most devices still have the features i want. BUT I DONT WANT TO HAVE A GATES PDA, I WANT TO HAVE A HS DEVICE. HS please hurry up!

whats your dream visor?

As long as this is just a wishlist without any hope of actually seeing a device like this for quite a while, I'd like what was previously mentioned as well as a rechargeable battery that can be swapped for standard sized ones if the need arises. Oh, and SmartMedia as another option for the card adapter, since I already have a couple of those cards .

>slim metallic case like the edge but without springboard adaptor

I don't see the appeal of the thin form factor since I carry
around a lot of other cables, modules, and gadgets with my visor.
My pack holds a full-size visor easily enough. My massive Geode
would probably bend a thin visor in half with its weight.

When you say "without springboard adaptor" you mean without the full
size one, or without any? Isn't the springboard adaptor
HandSpring's value proposition?

>high resolution color display with soft graffiti area like the >handera

I also would like a 320x320 color display; what is 'soft graffiti'?

>additional card slot for cf or mmc or sd for maps etc.
I already have memplug CF adaptor.

>built in (wireless) modem
Already have a SprintPCS phone with data cable. Better to buy
a separate phone and be able to upgrade visor and phone independently.
Plus, having permanent antenna on my visor makes me nervous; I
don't trust the security of that setup.

>min 16 mb of ram
Yes, I wouldn't mind 16mb of ram. That would be nice.

>speakers
Well, it has a speaker now, albeit not a very good one.

>a faster processor
That would be nice.

OK, if this is really a wish list, then I want to be able to watch movies on the Prism in 320x320 rez. I think if you could integrate a DataPlay engine into a Visor, then you could record a full-length movie in MPEG-4 or DiVX format and play it back on the Visor using 1 or 2 DataPlay discs. You could turn the Visor horizontal for wide-screen lovin'. And, of course, with a DataPlay engine integrated, you could tote dozens of hours of music with you as well as a lifetime of spoken audio content. Forget the SD, SmartMedia, etc. slots. Give me an integrated DataPlay engine with a new 200 MHz StrongARM RISC processor that can handle MP3 and MPEG1-4 decoding real-time.

Dear Handspring,

My visorcentral brothers and sisters would like to see an updated version of the Visor Prism. It doesn't have to be as thin as the edge but about the size of a VDX. Lithium batteries is a must together with the metallic case. The display has to be a 16bit Color High Resolution screen. And of course we want to be able to view colors under the sun and indoors. Maybe a little bit brighter than the new Color Clie. A built-in vibration alarm would be also nice, since the light alarm is not that usefull. At the same time we would love to see a soft-graffiti la Handera. I believe that the current hardware of the Prism is not enough and a 44Mhz or faster processor would be nice. Also, 16MB is a must, now that there are so many multimedia applications. In addition the IR port should be on top of the unit or maybe just in the same place where it was in most Visors. The microphone is not used by most users and I guess a built-in mono speaker would be great.

Please make our dreams come true.

Oh, man... if I had the money I would built a company and come out with this product. Many people would buy it and I would be a millioner.

Al

I'd sell my soul for...

Visor Platinum (yes, even the form factor) with:
- Lithium Ion battery that recharges thru the cradle
- The 8-pin interface so I can use my keyboard
- Handera 330's screen (mono is ok, just put Graffiti away when I don't need it)
- A decent backlight like the Edge
- OS 3.5.2 or 4.0... whatever
- Extra RAM and CPU speed wouldn't hurt, but not if it'll raise the price too much... I can't fill up 8MB, and that's what Springboard is for anyway... but it'd be nice if they'd do whatever they did to the Edge to make it 12% faster than the Plat...
- Flash also wouldn't hurt... but once again, let's not mess up the price

Seeing as Plat is $199, I don't see how adding a rechargeable battery and a better screen could possbily make it more than $249, which anyone would happily pay for these features I would think...
