Hi there-
I'm trying to use the IRLink program in order to HotSync through the IR port on my laptop, but I'm having a bit of trouble. The IR Control Panel says it's using COM5 LPT4, and the Palm Desktop software won't allow me to use COM5 to HotSync. Is there any way to fix this? The device manager shows a 'Virtual Infrared COM port' under Ports, but I can't seem to find a way to change this. Help!!

Cool

Brent,
Here's how to change the virtual port: I learned a few months back here on VC:

Start button
Run: regedit
Under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
Enum
Infrared
Virtual ports
VirtualComPortName
Change it to "Com 4" from "Com 5"

Piece of cake, right?
Sure it is. You'll love IrLink for convenience, but it is SLOW compared to USB. I only Ir sync when not synching mail or avantgo and never after using BackupAll.

I like the AutoSync function, but I use it in the cradle. And don't forget to uncheck the Redirect Cradle box if you use the USB travel cable.
