My unit has no trouble communicating. In fact as soon as I plug it in it automatically starts. Once it finishes, it starts again. As long as the unit is in the cradle it continuously tries to sync?

Gateway Laptop running Win98, 8MB Visor and USB Cradle.

I downloaded the latest version of Desktop software today. As for the USB, I'm not sure. I downloaded all of the latest updates from MS? Is there another USB patch that I may have missed?

No, you have should have all the updates, the only thing I can think of is the way the laptop powers the USB ports might be different than how a normal desktop does because of useing a different power management scheme.

This is not normal. The first thing I would do is check the contacts in the cradle and at the bottom of the Visor for some sort of debris that might be shorting something out. If everything looks good there, perhaps the hotsync button is stuck down?

If none of this resolves anything, I'd say you might have a bad cradle.
