Can anyone who has synchronized with outlook express help me? When I set up the mail, it asks me to go to options and check the box "make outlook express my default email program". That works, but then it says I need to check the box, "Make outlook express my default simple MAPI client." There is no such box! Any ideas?? Help!!!!! Thanks

What version of Outlook Express are you running? I'm running the one that comes with Internet Explorer 4.0 and in this version, the checkbox you're looking for is just below the one that makes Outlook Express your default e-mail program.

Mine is a different problem. When I check the box you're looking for, it "unchecks" when I hit "Apply". I still haven't been able to figure it out. I may have to upgrade to Internet Explorer 5.0 and see if that version of Outlook Express works any better.

I'm using internet explorer 5.0. My Outlook express is version 5.0 too. Mine does not have that check box you're mentioning. Why not upgrade and then we'll have the same problem to figure out.
However- check in your systems folder, under internet to make sure your outlook express program is the default email program. That may help you.

Hans:

I've already had IE5.0, but it was unstable so I uninstalled it and went back to IE4.0. I was going to try to download it again since I couldn't get my Visor to sync with IE4.0's Outlook Express, but it appears that there is just another problem waiting for me if I do. There has to be someone out there with IE5.0 Outlook Express that has synced e-mail successfully! I mean, it's not exactly an obscure e-mail program.

By the way, thanks for the tip, but I already tried that.

Thumbs up

I've been able to sych. mail with Outlook Express 5.0. It does not seem to have the "default MAPI client option" and I have not had any trouble with it. The one thing I wish I could do though is to synch with it's address book.

I would suggest that you re-install the Palm Desktop software and configure Mail to use Outlook Express during the setup process.

Good luck.

I use Outlook Express 5 as my email program at work and have been syncing my Visor Deluxe to it. It works fine with one annoyance - whenever I sync, Outlook Express tries to update its inbox. If my connection to the internet is open it checks for new mail before syncing. If my connection to the internet is not open it will dial in and then check for new messages. This slows the hot sync process down. It works fine - it is just a minor inconvenience.

Question

I did not see the checkbox mentioned either. I've just started using Outlook Express and have set up several Hotmail accounts with it. Problem is my Visor will only check the "Inbox" in the "Local Folder" , anybody know how to make it check one of the specific hotmail accounts I have (I have made that account the default account, but that doesn't make any difference, Visor will only check the "Local Folder" "Inbox". I'll appreciate any input anyone may have.
