Ah, I think running programs directly from MemPlug could be a good idea. I would like to put some pressure on PiDevelopers and also $$$ if it is neccessary, to do it.

Your poll really isn't specific enough though, there are so many types of apps that can take advantage of the MemPlug but not all would be priced the same.

I think he means how much would you be willing to pay for a program that would make it possible to run an app directly from the module. Sorta an auto-mover or something. Not how much would you pay for each app.

In otherwords... if you buy a mem-plug, how much extra would you pay to make it act like the standard visor memory, running apps...etc

I don't think it's necessary to put any pressure on the PI developers in this regard-- the vibe I've gotten from the "PiDeveloper" user who posts here is that this is exactly the primary focus of their development efforts right now.

Oh, I get it now. I think it should be free in that case. When its available I think it should be bundled with the MemPlug, if they want to raise the price then thats fine, but us early supporters (Many who braved PalmGear, some who've been waiting for like a month) should get it for free.

If it isn't the MemPlug, then bring on something else to expand the functionality of the Palm OS.

The iPaq (Pocket PC/Win CE) is making major inroads into the marketplace. While the corpoarate world has led the way in use of the handheld computer, education is fast cathing on to the power of the device. The ease with which audio and video can be incorporated into training programs (for example) on the iPaq vis-a-vis the Palm OS gives it a plus. The amount of memory available, out-of-the-box, is another plus for the iPaq. As a original owner of the US Robotics Pilot and a daily user of a Prism, I must admit I see problems ahead for the Palm devices unless ....

There's such a huge difference in market between a $700+ iPaq and the $200-400 Visor.

I agree on the expense of the iPaq vs. the Handspring products. But, if I start adding the cost of the modules I use with my Prism, the price differential becomes less in a hurry. Readabilty in "bright" light is another plus for the iPaq. Where I am employed, we have wireless connectivity out-of-doors in common gathering areas. It's next to impossible to use my Prism in such an environment. Not true with the iPaq. Is this another hurdle for the Palm OS to improve?

CF in the works

Mr Kessler and the folks at Kopsis Engineering is working on making CF cards read/write as we speak. The pluses of the memPlug are slowly being negated by the Compact Flash solution. There is an update (software) from Kopsis almost every week and there is rumors of a soon-to-be-released Flash CF Card that will use Kopsis's software.

I am excited about what is happening in the memory space...and we all have Mr. Kessler to thank for getting the ball rolling.

None of the CF cameras I have seen work with the iPaq . Even the one that Casio made Just for Pocket PC's I'd really like to be able to take nice Color pics in direct sunlight and be able to see the screen. That'd be sweet.
