Anybody able to confirm it works reliably with ReplayTV? I tried the software-only version on my VDX about a year ago with my Replay 2020. It appeared to train, but wouldn't work reliably. Wasn't a distance issue - didn't work even up close. Yet it worked fine with my Dish Network boxes, my Zenith TV and Sony VCR from 15 feet across the room.

But the main thing I wanted to use it for was the Replay. The Replay is great, but it is a boat anchor without a remote, and I wanted a backup that could handle all its functions, not just the handful that a few universal remotes now can do. So I didn't go beyond trying the limited free evaluation version.

Anyone have any luck with it? Would the newer version of the software work? Would I be better off with the module? Or is it an issue with a VDX (and thus PalmOS 3.1 with its IR limitations)?

I'd love to hear of a confirmed solution working with Omniremote and a Replay 2020 (or 3030 or Panasonic ShowStopper, which all share essentially the same remote control).

Thanks,
Mark

Sorry, I can't confirm its performance with the ReplayTV. You might try to confirm the frequency of the Ir receiver with Panasonic. The Omniemote Module works with frequencies 32700, 35000, 37500, 39200, 56000, and 455000 Mhz (?). I use the auto-detect function to fine-tune to my specific receivers and get outstanding performance.

I'd buy one through Amazon. If it works you have one hell of a convenient programmable remote. If it doesn't, just drop it in the mailbox and send it back to 'em. The upside --in this case-- is definately worth the risk.

Tonewiz, do you have a link for the 2.0 version. I'd like to see what upgrades they are working on. Is the module flash upgradeable?

I am using the software version (just registered it after several months use) and really like it. I seem to get a good 10-15 foot range when using good rechargeable batteries in my VDX. The throw-away cells didn't work as well at distance for some reason.

But overall, a good software solution for 20 bucks. I am considering purchasing a used or referb visor just for use as a remote.

Have fun!

I can't find it now.. I thought it was at http://www.pacificneotek.com/
but in my brief search I couldn't find anything. You might want to take more time and dig deeper. I am sure it exists though. If I have time I will look harder.
