Question HotSync or lack of I should say

I have a Visor Deluxe running Palm Desktop 4.0.1 under Windows ME. In the past I have had the occasional problem getting the unit to Hotsync. I put the unit in the cradle and push the button and the computer just sits there and does nothing. Usually rebooting the computer corrects the problem. In the past two weeks or so the problem happens just about every time I try and hotsync. My only way to get it to work is to run the USB Registry program from Handspring and then reboot the computer and try again. That usually fixes the problem that time but it returns the next time I sync. This is getting real old fast. Wondering if there is anything else I can do to correct this problem? It seems to be a know issue with no correction as far as I can see.

Thanks,

Erik

Try a soft reset of the VDx. That is known to solve many hotsync woes.

Well the soft reset fixed the problem temporarily. But the next time I went to sync it did the same thing, nothing. Are there any other ideas? Something is a miss.

Have you installed any new apps recently and/or do you run any hacks?

I have the same problem - but after running the USB reset and installing Desktop 4.01 neither the VDx NOR my Platinum will wake up the HotSync.

The Vdx reset business is REALLY old, as PlantaTree says.

The last App I installed was an update to ThinkDB about a week or so ago, but the problem was there before this. I dont run any hacks with my unit.

I did update my Palm Desktop a while back when the new version came out, but there too the problem existed before this. I was hoping the new desktop might help out this problem, but I guess not.

No hotsyncs here either....

I too have been having trouble for the last few weeks, except that my when the datebook (I'm running DateBk4) starts to sync, it freezes up my desktop computer (I have to reboot the desktop), and I get an error message on my Plat stating that communication with the desktop computer was lost. I've been running TealMaster for months, long before this problem started, so I don't think it's related. All I can say is thank God for the Backup module!
