Could anyone tell me what this file is? A while back, I installed ZarfCatalog and removed it. Could it that this file is part of ZarfCatalog? Thanks for your input.

I had a Zlib.prc installed on my platinum by some utility that claimed to be able to zip unused DBs on the PDA to reduce storage size. I don't remember what it was called and ended up turfing it because I learned that my DOC files were already compressed and didn't compress much further with the utility. I also don't have any apps on my Platinum that i don't use on a regular basis, so adding an extra compression/decompression step wasn't very helpful for me.
Deleting the app didn't get rid of it's associated libraries, so I had to go in and do it manually.
Can we all double check this? I use PZ and ZarfCatalog and have never seen a zlib.prc file.
I even re-downloaded the pz-0.7.1.zip file and examined the archive to see if I missed a file during my initial installation many moons ago-- I only see pz.prc and unpz.prc (and Z'Catalog from the author's web site gets you a single PRC file...)

I can't remember what program installed it on my Visor, (I think JackBack did, not sure if something wlse uses it), but I opened it in RsrcEdit, and among one of the first lines of code it give th info: "Palm ZLib adaptation Copyright 2000, Tom Zerucha, [email protected]".

for more subsequent info. I removed zlib from my system and was still able to compress with pz. I don't recall where I got it myself. Reading the url from my prior post on this thread yields the info that pz uses zlib, but I cannot explain further.

The post prior to my most recent post is correct. JackBack installs zlib as well for compression of backups.

I do have JackBack on my VPL. That makes sense. Thanks.
