afterburner settings

Using version 3.0u, I've checked the boxes next to 0-ws Core, Fast Mpx, Fast Page, and Adjust ticks.
Default and Find speed are both at 45MHz
LCD/n = 2 (though I don't find any setting change making any difference).
Accel is "always" and Slow is "never."

I can't beam at this speed (not that I do very often). I wish there was a separate category under "speeds" for "Beaming," if that's possible, so it slows it down to normal, or as fast as allowable.

I tried another program by MegaSoft - I forget the name - that actually took you up to 46 MHz, but it had none of the other settings that Afterburner has, so it ended up being slower than Afterburner at 45.

By the way, the BogoHz Low Precision measurement is 12MHz/19 seconds <> 1 MHz, and the High Precision number is 12413 Khz/58 sec <> 210 KHz

I'd love to check it out, but how do you open it? What kind of application is "This"?

A Windows Bitmap... You're obviously not running Windows?

I hate it when people post BMPs. Make it a JPG.

Question for you Speed Demons -

Is the power consumption noticably higher on your Prisms when using all the available over-clockers?

Thanks in advance

I am running Windows, as a matter of fact. It asked me what app to use. I didn't have a particularly good answer - shouldn't a good operating system know how to pick the appropriate app itself?

Anyway, this discussion group is for all of our Visor problems, not our Windows problems. Maybe someone can describe for the software-deprived what "This" is and we'll leave it at that.

I couldn't even go a day w/o checking vc.

Anyway, my pc @ work also couldn't identify the *.bmp.
Just save it to your desktop, then double-click it.

I don't know why this works, just pc wierdness.

I was able to open it on my iMac at home using Quicktime, and it's a Benchmark 2 screenshot showing "This unit" at 724%. That's either an extraordinary number (and if so, I'd love to know how he tweaked his Prism to get it) or it's like that prosthetic appendage that Mark Wahlberg exposes at the end of "Boogie Nights" - impressive, but clearly fake. Still, out of respect and fairness, I'll assume it's real - so Visor Guy2, how'd you do it? Inquiring minds want to know.

wait, wait, wait, just a minute.

The "scene" in boogie nights was fake?

Oh man, I hope 'Marky-Mark' comes on to tell you how wrong you are. He was a Calvin Klein underwear model before that movie, you know.
Believe me, us girls know.

ps. I want to go fast too. Tell me how.

I just tried those settings with Afterburner 3.0u and when it resets and asks to reinstall my hacks it does that fine. However if i press any button.....the VPR does a soft boot. I lowered the speed to 39 and still the same.

Anyone have any ideas?

The only reason you have to save it is because browsers are not set (by default) to open BMP files.

I didn't know that. It makes sense though, only gif/jpg are native to the web.

thanks for pointing out another obvious common sense fact.

Yes, I'm afraid to tell you, gb, that the part that looked like a wad of silly putty rolled into a pretzel log-shaped tube of a slightly different color was the prosthetic part. The two-tone should have given it away. And it's a shame - he didn't need the help, judging from those billboards in Times Square.

But back to the Prism: if you want to go fast, I think the QuickBits/Afterburner 3.0u combo will go a long way toward speeding you up.

And to Barry, (and sorry for the delay) I'm sure my batteries run down somewhat faster, but since it's always in the cradle when I'm not carrying it, I rarely have a problem, except on long trips.

eB.

afterburner does speed things up but battery life decreases significantly.... And did anyone notice that with Afterburner activated at around 40 Mhz overclocked, the IR will not work at all?

Also, it creates weird scenarios sometimes when resetting, and sometimes it takes 2 soft resets to properly disable afterburner..

Thats Why I use Clockup DA (You will need a DA Launcher). No Problems whatsoever. No Ir not working, No High pitched tones, no SB module problems, No Hotsync problems, no Nothin' I never even deactivate it! It is the best.

One note though, To get the sounds back to normal do a soft reset. The sounds will be normal but you will be running at high speed (tho resetting on a machine running lower than OS 3.5 will decrease Clock speed to normal ) And Ignore what that guy said about not being able to beam. If you do a soft reset That problem will be fixed.

Have Fun!

Thanks Visor Guy!
Have been using my Prism for so long and never tried ClockupDA...

It is terrific! Although the sounds get rather high pitched... However I cannot do beaming at 42 Mhz, although simply setting the speed back to default returns everything back to normal, unlike AB which requires so many times of soft resets! Afterburner has just been trashed...
