I thought I would bring it to your attention that geodiscovery makers of the Geode GPS module have been accepting returns and not proving refunds to customers.

I hope someone that knows what to do about this reads this letter.

basically they don't answer their phones or return emails. and people have reported sending in their units with RMA numbers and never receiving refunds!

this is appalling and if this is allowed to happen with springboard modules then the handspring platform will ultimately fail.

by the way they also have severely violated the truth in advertising laws by lying to customers and fraudulent advertisements. if you know anything about this product the following will make since. Their software does NOT support color like they claim. They do not have topographical map software. Their memory expansion via MMC's does not work. There is no web based application for route planning like they show on their box!

anyone that knows what to do about this please let me know

once again i recommend you contact handspring. though obviously they cannot help you get your money back, the least they can do is remove the link from their site to geode's.

there is no reason for handspring to be sending good customers to geode if they are aware that the company is acting fraudulantly.

you could also report to your credit card company. it could depend on their policy. (Amex has really good policy) they could refund you with out a sweat.

I'd thought I'd mention that Geodiscovery has contacted some of the people who returned their Geodes and at least one has been told that a check has been sent to him. Hopefully, they will see their money soon.

Perhaps you are referring to me? They only promised to put a check in the mail with the next week. AFAIK it's not on the way...yet. I have hope, but only a little. For the record, I sent my Geode in on April 11th.

Thanks for the correction. I assumed from your post in another thread,

quote:
"i just got an email from Chris, assuring me that my check is one the way...even got a reply right away...

OK, great! That will be nice."

that you that Geodiscovery had mailed you the check already. Apparently, I read into it too much. As I said, I hope you get your money back soon.

Ah, I guess in my momentary glee I mis-typed...I've corrected my post to clear up any confusion. I don't want to get ahead of myself...

Take care,
Matt

i am leaving this forum for good now.

i hope all you geodiscovery supporters realize that you are complete idiots and your money is gone. you have been supporting a company that stole from you. How stupid can you get?

i hope everyone that supported the lies that built geodiscovery is out of a job! i really hope they are suffering now for thier actions. I truly think they are worthless, as well as anyone that thinks the company is a good honest business.

i am sure you people dont agree but its because you are lying to yourself about the truth, you know you were ripped off but you dont want to admit it.

i hope geodiscovery never recovers and all you "loyal" customers are stuck with the software you have.

This is Troy's swan song from the Beta Team Forum. I just had to point out that Troy sold his Geode on Ebay. What Troy claims GD did to him, he did to a stranger. Troy is as guilty as GD, in my book more so. At leat GD is working on thier problems. Troy just conned someone into taking his.

the difference is that I did not lie to the person i sold my geode to, as geodiscovery did to me.

you cant blame me for the lies that geodiscovery perpetuated to consumers. I never told the person i sold it to that it performed as advertised by geodiscovery.

so NO i did not do the same thing that geodiscovery did.

i didnt convince the person that bought my geode that they needed it. geodiscovery did that!

Using their advertising to sell it is just the same as doing it yourself. You didn't warn the person you sold it to. You sold it the same way GD sold it to you.
And what about the GD lies you perpetuated to your customer by not telling them your experience?
It's simple. If you would have told your customer what you thought of the product then you would not have made the sale. So you didn't, and you did to someone exactly what you have been ranting and raving in the GD Beta forum about GD doing to you. You acted as a business by selling the product and did it with no warrantee what so ever. Though GD hit some really bad financial times they are trying to make things right. What are you going to do when your customer signs their name "Troy, Stoll My Money"? Not that they would, most people don't.
I will think of you as the Pot that calls the Kettle Back!
You owe GD an apogee.

i told the guy that if he didnt like the geode he could send it back to me. I dont know where you are getting your information, but it is false.

the difference is that if my buyer is unhappy i will refund there money!

Hey Troy,
What's up? Are you letting me have the last word? That has never been your style on the Beta Forum. Is some thing wrong? I expected some come back about how right you are and how wrong GD is. And what about a coment about me with some slur using less than polite vanacular.

Just in case anyone els reads this and to straighten the record a little, My Geode works great! The software interface between it and my Visor (GeoView) is pretty poor for a unit that costs as much as it does. Geodiscovery is working on this and it is completely upgradeable. So the problems Troy had can be fixed. Except for his expectations.
Have a great day,

Dafydd
My Geode Works Fine, My GeoView is an other matter.
I still have fun with Both!

i still read, i am just not posting anymore.

i just dont care anymore, many of the geodiscovery supporters in the beta program bother me because of thier complacence. they just put up with being stabbed in the back. and some seem to respect geodiscovery even more now. I dont feel like talking to them anymore.
