I don't have my Visor yet (maybe Fathers Day). Is it possible to change the batteries without hot syncing or having a backup module?

Yes, it is possible. However. you should always HotSync prior to changing the batteries just to be safe. According to the Visor manual, you have a period of approximately one minute in which to remove the old and install the new batteries before losing anything in the Visor's memory. Real world experience might let this time frame be a little longer, but I'm not about to experiment.

When changing batteries, always have the new ones out of the package and ready to go before you remove the old ones. A normal battery change can be done in far less than the one minute time.

Don't worry... you have up to half an hour or so to put in the new batteries. I know cause I've experimented.

This time will vary. On my Palm IIIx, I had about 80 minutes to complete a battery change.

One of my Visor DLX allows about 30 minutes. The other Visor DLX allows only about 10 minutes.

Is there any problem with just doing one battery at a time? Thus minimizing time when the connection is broken?

Ie, pull one battery out, stick new one in. Repeat for other battery.

Instead of: pull both out, fumble with new ones, sweat, look at case for proper alignment, stick one battery in, stick the other in.

That's probably the best way to change batteries. You are without battery power for barely half a second at a time that way, if you don't accidentally fumble one. Just be sure to make a mental note which ones are fresh and which one you just took out so you don't put a depleted battery back in.

I've always changed them one at a time, just dumb luck, I guess. A really good way to keep the old ones separate from the new ones is to keep switching brands of batteries, then you know which are the new ones because they just came out of the package!

They have to be connected in series or else the Visor would run off of 1.5 volts, not 3. If they were in a parallel circuit then the amprage would increase but the voltage would stay at 1.5. I don't see any problem with changing them one at a time. That's what I do!
