Question

Some stand-alone voice recorders include a voice-to-print capability, in which speech is converted to text via voice recognition software. I would love to be able to use my visor and the Total Recall module to make lists, memos, even compose sermons (I'm a pastor), then convert this to text without having to type it in. Has this capability been made available to Visor users?

Cool Voice Recognition

That type of technology is VERY processor intensive. I don't believe the Visor can support that type of technology yet. I would expect something in the next generation to claim it can do this (but it will work poorly) and the generation AFTER that to start to work well.

Question Voice Recognition Software

I don't necessarily need the Visor itself to do the converting. Is there software for the desktop that would take a file created by the Total Recall module, once it has been synched to the desktop, then convert it to text?

I too, would love some form of software to process voice messages. That's the big reason why I have avoided the voice recorders, you still need to scribe the messages later !
Let me know if you find anything.
I sent an email to Targus, asking them a similar question - but received no reply to date.

Maybe you could use ViaVoice, iListen (if you have a Mac) or one of the other voice recognition programs to listen to your recording (play the recording back to your computer's sound in port) and convert what is heard. Probably not the best solution, but I imagine it could be done. Of course you'd have to go through the "learn my voice" phase of the software which is often a long and tedious process. I guess it also depends on how good the quality of the sound from the recorder is...
