I would like to have a *cheap* CF card reader/writer module with a serial port (to connect an external modem and other stuff).
(I am not sure, but didn't Innogear mention that they are thinking about a "function-reduced" module (w/o mp3-player capability but with a CF or other memory card reader)?

Other than that, the Springboards I am interested in are already in the making (GPS Springboard - forgot the name; ThinCom modem).

Nintendo would make so much money if they made a Gameboy Cartridge Adaptor for the Visor it's not even funny! Almost a no-brainer for them!

I also like the idea of a SVGA adaptor in which you could plug the Visor to a standard monitor or data projector for powerpoint presentations. Such a springboard would need to have the SVGA connections and circuitry, in addition to about 64 MB of memory to store a good-sized powerpoint presentation, as well as supported software to read a powerpoint file and display it, in color, to the data project (SVGA port). Yes, the Visor is monochrome, but one would think that color capability could be added through a springboard to display color to the data projector,... Unfortunately, such a springboard probably won't happen because of Microshaft and Pocket PC,... I really hate to give the WinCE people any ideas! However, if I recall, didn't Jeff Hawkins mention something about the possibility of this springboard way back when the Visor was first introduced?

A scanner springboard with OCR capability would also be nice,... ;-)

I am a math prof who uses the Texas Instruments TI-92+ graphing calculator practiaclly all the time. I think it would be cool if TI, or someone licensed to TI, would make a springboard that emulates the TI-92+ or TI-89 calculator.

Or we could go a step further, and get Waterloo Maple to make a Maple 6 springboard! Wow, now *that* would be pretty nifty (although you'd almost need a color screen to make Maple really work). I know that they have a WinCE version of Maple already (at least that's what the representatives at my Maple training workshop said).

I'd like to see a TV commercial blocking springboard module. Someone has to develop a way of getting rid of that damned little brat from the Pepsi commercials!!!

Another great idea is a module that will shock and kill anyone who gratuitously uses stupid trendy phrases to look cool. You know what I mean: "You go girlfriend"..."Don't go there!"..."WHATEVVVER!"..."As if!"..."We are soo gonna ____!"..."Chillin with my homeys!" (well actually, I use that last one myself)

Spring boards I'd like to see:

1. AM/FM radio... Yeah, I know. Sounds stupid, but it'd be great for times when I'm away from home and want to listen to the ball game. (Yes, I know there is a FM radio coming from CUE, but I need AM too.

2. Cordless phone... Not a cell phone, but a cordless phone for around the house.

I know the market might be limited for such a product, but I am dying for someone to come out with a Springboard glucometer. A machine that diabetics use to measure their blood sugar levels. I use some software on my Visor now to track my numbers and insulin doseages, but have to use a seperate machine to do the test - integration would be a dream. The machine I use now is not much bigger than a module, and most of it is screen and battery storage. This and the fact that all these machines store your tests and let you download them to your PC for analysis, (something more easily done with Syncing I would bet) make this a great candidate for a module. I tried contacting the glucometer manufactures, to no avail....

A better digital camera would be great. The eye module and PalmPix are both 3+ years behind the times as far as quality. A camera that approaches mega-pixel quality, with autofocus rather than fixed focus and some degree of exposure control, using either MMC or SmartMedia card for storage would be perfect. If this could retail for $300, I'd be first in line.

A DTMF Dialer. Then you could not only dial by placing the visor up to mouth piece of public phones, you could also dial long distance pin numbers without fear of being observed.

Louder speaker for alarms and DTMF
Voice Recorder
Flashing light (LED) for alarms/pages
8 Meg of Memory

Also, it would be nice if it could snap into a standalone pager shell for carrying on the weekends (like a regular pager).

1. An affordable, very basic, 9 pin RS-232 (serial) port. I would love to use a telnet client on the visor to connect to all the computer equipment

The 9pin serial port SpringBoard is not formally announced, but EFIG has stated in e-mail that they are working on a consumer version of the Diagnostics Card (less of the diagnostics info).

There are just too many to think of.
