Besides things such as built-in secuity, built-in telephony and increased color depth, I also heard that after PalmOS 4.0 Palm will include things like higher resolution!

I certainly hope so. I was a bit disappointed that it was NOT included in 4.0

"The new OS will feature a handful of interface enhancements, including 16-bit color (the Palm OS is currently 8-bit) and an Attention Manager that tells the user when a paged message or e-mail has come in that requires their attention. However, the new OS will not support bigger displays. "

Happy Treo 600 user, so far. Thanx Cingular for having an unlocked phone.
My Treo 600 is my phone, my PDA, my watch, and my MP3 player. Oh yeah, I take a picture once in a while with it. Convergence is such a great thing.

just read in an investment report that OS 5.0 will be released in early 2002 and it will support higher resolutions.

The OS upgrade picture is still fuzzy. While Motorola will offer a combo Xscale/dragonball processor, it won't be available until late 2001 (and samples won't be available until summer 2001). So the emulation demonstrated at the DevCo was done on a "standard" Xscale cpu, and it truely was software emulation. This makes me wonder if Palm even needs the Motorola solution. Anyway, I assume that Xscale will wait for OS 5? Seems like the design goals for OS 4 are doable on dragonball, so that flash upgrade from OS 3.x to OS 4 really is going to happen. Wonder what that means for those of us in VisorLand?
huh?

If the Palm OS is currently 8-bit..how comes the Prism is 16 bit. Isn't the Prism using the Palm OS currently available?
