LOL...would it make you feel worse or better to know that I don't consider hippie an insult? I just consider it inaccurate.

You have to beat May 1946.

Yup -- though I had more experience with more recent memory technology. 256K on a board the size of a pizza box.

(Yes, this could devolve into an old-timer's "in my day..." technology thread really quick...)

Funny!
We here in S.C. have had Strom (as U.S. Senator) since 16 years before I was born.

um ... not to be overly critical or anything (like I ever do that) but isn't "settling down" the same thing as "the white picket fence thing"? unless yer Tom Sawyer or something.

You try and paint my fence white, and you will be on the run like Huckleberry.

My dad was a '46er also (I'll withhold my comments on some of the baby boomer progeny), but bookrats is slightly less than 10 years my senior.

How about most jobs?!

I can't win either youngest or oldest (1963), but I bet I can make a run for guy with the most jobs under his belt per years under the sun and moon. Let's see newspaper delivery boy, lawnmowing, snake wrangler, dishwasher, motherboard packer (don't ask), supermarket stockboy, movie theater concessionist, movie theater usher (diff. theater) USMC (one MOS, four different posts), piano/furniture moving, movie theater projectionist/maintainance, stone mason, carpenter, auto parts store, glassblower, property manager, cabinetmaker, bootmaker, leather worker, product designer, marketing, contractor, business owner (vintage feathers), car sales, and store owner. I think that is all (although my memory is going). That's 25 in 39 years or 1.56 a year since birth.
I still can't figure out how I had the time to sire three boys!
I didn't include anything that I didn't do for at least six months straight.

How about the least? I'm only on my 4th since leaving High School. Two of 'em were part-time at the same time. I'm currently in my 23rd year at my present job (that's longer than any from the "youngest" thread have been alive!). Boy, I feel old...

That was well placed. Very nice.

Doubtful. The Ramble is a website unto itself. Some may get longer, but none shall get bigger. The only thing I don't thing the Ramble has dealt with is screen protection.

How about who lives the most far away from NYC....

Acording to my PSION for me that would be 15988 Km/9934 Miles...

This wouldn't be a fair contest since Australia is all the way down "there" away from the rest of civilization

Even if it were intended as an insult, I'd be hard-pressed to deny it. I fully admit to being a smart-@$$ at times.

Looks like I'm the oldest -- oh woe!

March 1942. Just turned 60. Oh, well, it beats the alternative!

Nobody said it was going to be fair...
I make no chance in being either the youngest or oldest member either...

"Mmmm interesting... care to tell more about that?"

About seven years ago we bought 135+ acres withn old house and a barn (along with various other outbuildings). The barn was completely full of cr*p. That cr*p turned out to contain the entire stock of a defunct millinery (hat making) supply company. It had been stored in the barn for approx. 50 years. After we removed a lot of junk we uncovered boxes and boxes of pristine hat trimmings, most of them feather ornaments. The factories that made these no longer exist, or are no longer making them, so they are sought after.
We sell directly to most of the best custom hatmakers in the US and UK (Philip Treacy who does Chanels' hats (and his own) bought a huge lot from us). You can see our stuff at our website(which admittedly is in dire need of updating and revising) at Vintage Feathers . We currently come up as the number one site on Google searches for "vintage feathers".
