Unhappy

Hello,

I bought a xircom modem last nite so I could get my Prism on-line as needed. (Omnisky caused me a hard reset yesterday so wired was all I had). Now I am frustrated AGAIN. I will be calling xircom today. It seems that when the modem is plugged into the Prism it blinks and flashes the charge LED!!! I think there is also some speaker noise when it is plugged in. So I am leaving it out until I talk with Xircom..... Anyone else seen this?

Also, a bit frustrated with Xircom's web site. They talk about a GSM cable kit for the MODEM, but I cannot find it on the shopping cart....

Does the xircom have its own batteries? If so it probably is actually charging the Prism batteries.

I've had a Springport for a while now (several months), and this just happened to me (for the first time) last weekend.

It scared the crap out of me, particularly since the charging LED started acting up when I plugged the portable charger into the Prism. The light would stay solid (not blink), even though the battery was obviously no where near a full charge.

I did a soft reset, and that seemed to fix the problem. The charge light worked as it's supposed to and the next time I inserted the module (just a day later) the light issue had disappeared.

I'd just put brand new batteries into the module before this happened, so I wonder whether there was some type of overflow back from the module into the Prism - I'm not sure, I'm not enough of a techie.

Try doing a soft reset on your Prism first.

My Xircom did that the first day I had it, did the reset and it hasn't done it since.

Yeah, as I said in my last post (before I started musing on possible causes) a soft reset did the trick for me.

Question

Ok, I am closer.

I put the xircom in the Prism and it blinks the lite plays some init games, etc.. Asks me to set the counrty code, for the 5th time! Then I soft reset the thing and it stops blinking the light.

I take modem out put it back in again, blinks the darn lite.

Launchem says the battery is being charged (DUUH).

And you guys thought the software in the omni sky modem was buggy.

I suppose I have to hard reset the darn thing to do a test to prove to xircom that they have a problem. Or maybe it is handspring.....

I love soft resets, really I do !!!
