additional memory...

It sounds like a lot of people out there have memory expansion modules. I've had my visor for about 2 years and its loaded with stuff but the memory is still only half full. I was wondering what you guys put on your handhelds that takes up so much memory.

Support documents that total over 5 meg.

Maps also chew up a meg or 2.

Back when my prism only had 8 megs, I only filled up allitl over half. When I upgraded it to 16 megs, again I used about half.

My Treo right now is using about half.

Basically the other 4 megs was taken up by Word smith, Docs to go, and a couple of games.

I have a Presenter-to-Go module that I use frequently. I try to keep at least 5 megs of the 8 megs on my Plat free as the presentations tend to be large (lots of images and graphs). As a result, I put a lot of stuff (technical documents, databases, and GAMES) on a 16 meg DataQuake.

I have a Memplug(CF), with a 64 MB Card. The card is almost filled up with pictures, videos, ebooks, backup, games.
I REALLY need the extra memory. On my Prism I try to keep half of the memory free.
I think it would be really cool to have a Springboard that supports different card formats(like CF/SD). Well, but the Springboard is dead...

I think it is a case that if you build it, they will come. If you add more memory, you will find ways of filling it. For example, before I got any memory modules, I usually had it about 3/4 full. Then I got an 8 MB Flash Module. I filled that up quickly. Then I got a memplug SM with a 64 MB card. I ended up almost filling that up with maybe 10 MB to spare. Finally I got a 128 MB card. I now have about 8 MB left on that.

What do I fill up with? Oh, lots of things, movies, books, maps, games (over 70), dictionaries, encyclopedias, databases, backup, movies, and pictures. I have a four files over 10 MB in size: a movie database covering in detail every movie released in the US since 1920, a detailed timeline of the world (ever wanted to know when and how the Farris Wheel was invented, on the fly), and two dictionaries.

So trust me, you find ways of filing the space.

Support different formats on springboard

Wondering if anybody has tried using a matchbook or similar CF device with one of the Smartmedia or SD card to CF adapters?

Having to do that sort of workaround on a Ipaq for my mother in law - camera uses Smartmedia, she has a CF sleeve. Found an adapter that you put the SM card into and it uses a CF form factor and pinout.

MemPlug with a 64 meg CF card. Very easy to store alot of apps wthout filling up memory. And alot of programs that support VFS like in Palm OS 4x devices, work great with it.

internal memory upgrade vs. memory module

What do you recommend? I can upgrade my internal memory on my Neo to 24mb or I can get springboard memory module to upgrade.

What are the pros/cons of each method?

Are programs/files on the springboard module accessed the same way as the ones in internal memory? I've read about people having problems with databases and other programs in external memory not working. I don't know if they were using springboard modules or other memory cards.

I know I need more memory. I just want to get it the easiest/cheapest and most user friendly way.
