For everyone who might be interested, I thought I'd post my thoughts about screen protection...

I've had my IVDx since mid-January. Having read ALL the posts about scratching before receiving my Visor (ordered with the deluxe 5-pak), I made sure to have screen protection ready. I originally tried transparency film, then sheet protectors, and finally settled on plain old 8 gauge vinyl. Been using that since late January.

Since my occupation involves factory and warehouse work, myself and the Visor are exposed to dust, dirt, and a variety of other air-borne debris. And at home, between the kids and the dogs, there's always something floating around in the air that never fails to land on my screen (I think the Visor and the proverbial buttered toast are one in the same!). I'm convinced that my cheap vinyl has saved the screen. I'm constantly wiping something from the screen that I'm sure would be trapped under any stylus and thus result in a scratch.

For me, it's peace of mind. Even though glare is slightly increased and clarity is slightly reduced, I don't foresee ever going without something between me and my screen.

As for actual scratches... I have one fairly nasty one in the upper left corner. It happened when I stupidly slipped the Visor into my pocket along with my keys. I don't believe anything would have helped prevent that one (except for electric shock treatment on my person). Like I said, my own stupidity!

I guess what I'm trying to say here is to each their own, but I won't be caught dead without screen protection. It's cheap insurance, even with its downside.
