Prism users, do the following: bring up the brightness setting, adjust the brightness to the lowest setting, and then use the unit for about 5-6 minutes--maybe even 10 minutes. You'll notice an occasional flicker.

On the other hand, if you increase the brightness setting above the halfway mark, the flickering becomes less discernable.

Let me know whether you see the flicker I'm talking about.

Even after following the contrast adjustment trick (setting the date to 1904, etc) I still have a very slight flicker on my Prism. On high brightness (where I almost always leave it), it is only slightly noticeable. At lower brightness settings, it is quite pronounced. The contrast adjustment does not seem to have made any difference for me. Does everyone have this flicker at low brightness, or is it only some of us?

I spoke to a representative over at Handspring technical support, and he told me that this flickering problem does occasionally occur with the Visor's TFT display. In fact, the following link takes you to a review done by pen computing magazine that makes note of the flicker problem. (Read the third paragraph in review.)

From the article:

"This flicker usually only appears in solid colors, and usually only when the unit is being moved or tilted. When held steady, the images are also steady."

This is exactly the way I would describe it, although I would also note that it is much more obvious at low brightness settings. Very helpful to see it in print - and hard to understand why Handspring has sometimes refused to acknowledge that it exists. Do you folks who sent your units in for replacement feel that the replacement units are any better? If so, I wonder why? From the PenComputing writeup it seems as if all Prism screens should have the same amount of flicker.
