PIDirect II Recovery Problems

I have an Edge and use a Memplug with PIDirect II to back it up. I also hotsync daily.

Recently, I backed up my unit and did a hard reset on it to clear the memory (was loaning it to a friend for a couple days). When I got it back I hard reset it again and then tried to use PIDirect II to restore my data. When the restore was complete and the unit was soft reset, I got a fatal error that lock it up solid. I hard reset and restored again. This time I got some memory error and had to reset again. I repeated the process two more times. Each time I got some sort of error that crashed the unit.

Forgoing the memplug, I just hot synced the unit with my PC. I hotsynced it last right before I did the original backup. After the hot sync, all my data was back and the unit worked great. Experimenting a bit, I used the memplug to make a backup again, hard reset, and tried to restore. Same error problem occurred. Hot syncing worked fine.

I never had any problem with backups or restores with my HS backup module. I get no errors when I backup with the memplug, but restoring seems to fail everytime. Makes the backups kind of useless.

Anyone know what might be going on?

Thanks,

Mike

Do you use a stowaway keyboard?

There have been issues reported with the keyboard driver during the restore process.

You can read additional details about it and how to avoid future problems at www.launchplug.com

Inhibiting the keyboard worked. Thanks!

You have no idea how many hours I wasted trying to figure this out. Pitech should put some reference to it on their website. I certainly couldn't find it.
