I have tons of Maps (Mapololis enhanced maps) and need more. My VDX is maxed out with stuff I use daily like Vindigo, Avantgo, and ThinkDB not to mention tons of addresses and emails (I'm in the sales field).

After reading many of the discussions on memory options I'm more confused than ever.

Any suggestions???? Can I read off of CF and MemPlug or do I have to transfer files into an already tight VDX?

Currently, you can neither directly read off map from CF adaptors nor Memplug Springboard. It is because the PalmOS doesn't design to do so before PalmOS4.0

However, Memplug provide open API spec for developers to adopted the function of directly read from card, just like gMovie player and PiViewer. You may need to contact the corresponding application writers about your wish to have Memplug support.

Kopsis also makes the API for FlashAdapter compatible modules (Matchbook and Innopocket) available to developers that wish to add CF support to their applications (JackBack from Brayder Technologies is a perfect example). If you want to see a developer add CF support to their app, have them email [email protected] for API info.

Thumbs down Non-commercial answer

I'm not a commercial developer & I don't play one on TV.
But the answer to your question for mapopolis or any other applications not mentioned above is NO. Yes it is possible as demonstrated by both companies above. However, it is just vaporware as far as the apps you are looking at. I'm fairly confident that you'll start seeing more and more apps doing this in the future. But for now the answer is no.

I've got Memplug and a 64 meg card, and I've got the Matchbook drive M100 on order. I went with Memplug because it comes bundled with the software & I could get a 64 meg Smart media card cheaper than a CF card.

Good luck & hang in there.
