I'm sure this has been covered before, so please no flames...

Is it possible to use the USB feature of the Visor for anything else? Like Modem, VT100 terminal emulation, zip drive (I'm reaching here) or anything other than fast syncing?

Probably not. The Visor is itself a USB "slave" device. It does not have adequate resources to provide the necessary USB power requirements needed by peripherals.
