Question

Any feedback on the Handspring beltclip? Is the clip removable?

The clip is not removable. Also it looks as if it will break with any above average usage. The screen cover can't be installed while Visor is in holster. The holster protects the screen itself.

Thumbs down

Got one for my boyfriend, and it broke the first time he wore it, getting into the car. The pin holding the clip to the case is plastic, and gave immediately with a very slight hang on the door. I'd really worry about it breaking and causing the Visor damage.

Thanks for the feedback. Sounds like a dud.

The belt clip IS kinda phlegm-z. Not only is the clip not removeable (as mentioned above), its spring action is pretty weak... I might trust it to stay on a tightly strung belt, but probably not just on my pants or a pocket. You can, however, epoxy a removeable style clip onto it if you like.

I've used the belt clip Visor case for two weeks everyday, in and out of the car 15-20 times a day seeing customers, etc. I like it. It keeps the Visor within easy reach.

I considered removing the spring clip and bonding a swivel clip (from the CLIP Company at www.theclip.com) to the back of the case.
PRO: swivel clip would be more secure. CON: the swivel clip holds the case farther away from the body.

I did have the Visor and belt clip case get knocked off my belt once getting out of the car. The Visor and case survived a three-foot fall onto asphalt with no damage.

I've been using (and loving) my belt clip since it arrived last week.

The only thing I'd improve on it would be to slightly enlarge and round off the two 'prongs' that hold the Visor into the case, so it won't fall out if you hold it upside down & give it a little shake.

Question

Where can you get these things and how much are they?
Didn't see them available at the site.

I ordered the belt-clip with my Visor. After reading a lot about the cracking cases (might be due to the regular wear and tear of the Visor hard cover), I thought that this would solve the problem.
I've been using the belt-clip for a few days and it is petty good. My Visor is very accessable and always by my side. The spring on the clip doesn't seem to be very strong, but this could be intentional to allow for some play when you sit. I would not recommend cliping this to your pocket (hence the name BELT-Clip!).

This is available on the Handspring's website. Look under cases and then look under value cases (the cheap ones!).

I received a PalmPilot leather belt clip case from my employer, and it does the job quite well. It has a very strong clip, and even a loop you can thread your belt through. The screen cover can not be on your visor when you put it into this case, it's not that large. Also, while it sounds like the Handspring models have no top, this has a top with a velcro fastener that keeps the unit in the case.
I found a part number on the box, it is 10117U, but this may not be valid anymore, this case was bought when US Robotics was still around.
Hope this is useful information.
