Overclocking you Handspring??

Have any of you ever overclocked your Visor? When you overclocked di your Screen start to vibrate? Im looking for everyones input on this subject so please reply to this posting!!Thanks!!

Yes, I have overclocked my Visor Deluxe and now my Prism using Afterburner(Registered)on X-master. I'll never go back. On my deluxe, I pretty much clocked everything as much as it would go. On my Prism, I have battery life concerns and the regular performance is good in most apps so I just clock up a few. (Bible, Think DB) Just having AB running and killing the wait states, etc. improves things without overclocking. I know you can search the posts and find extensive discussions on overclocking.

I tried overclocking on my VDx, but ran into some problems that I didn't like, so until someone on these boards resolves them, I'm off overclocking.

X-Master plus Ap/DA Laucher plus ClockupDA is a totally free overclocking solution that I've used on my Ice VDX for at least six months now. I don't keep it on all the time but I do switch back and forth to 24 MHz for various games and AvantGo browsing with no apparent problems. I love being able to switch on the fly with a few simple taps.

yep...I have my prism clocked at 52mhz and love it...only go bar was giving me problems at that speed so i dropped it down to 50mhz and now all is well

Trying to go cold turkey

I've overclocked with Afterburner for months, but I'm trying to leave it behind because it seems to have conflicts with DateBk4, when I scroll down -- thing locks up some times. (This is at 28MHz overclocked on my VDX -- I stick to a pretty safe limit on the speed.)

Note: this may be a combination of Datebk4, TrekSounds/TechSounds hack, and the afterburner hack -- I don't want to blame Afterburner for the problem. Of the three, though, I'm least interested in afterburner.

OCd Prism w/X-Master & AfterBurner3 (reg)

I'm zipping along at 54MHz (Prism unclocked is 33MHz) and except for the Stowaway Keyboard, I've had no problems. Battery life is pretty much a daily recharge but it fits in with my lifestyle. For those occasions where battery life is essential, I can UNDERCLOCK down to 10MHz and use the applications where speed is not necessary, like DateBook4 and Memo.

When using the Stowaway Keyboard, I simply (unclock? disclock? eh?) revert back to normal speed without any problems.

What's so cool with AfterBurner3 is that you can set the speed settings PER PROGRAM. So Program A will run at 48MHz, while Program B can run at 10MHz.

BTW, Afterburner also works with LauncherIII and VFS Helper (thanks Kopsis Engineering!). So now I have a 54MHz PDA with 32MB of external memory!

...not to brag or anything...

I've overclocked my monochrome unit, and it was perceptibly faster. But not fast enough to warrant the risk of software conflicts, or the extra battery drain. Hats off to the author of AfterBurner ... he seems to have his stuff together, and I admire his tenacity in ensuring as few conflicts as possible.

But I went back to the standard 33 MHz and it is indeed adequate for my moderate-use purposes.

I can see how overclocking would help with the Prism (color processing seems to create a perceptible lag).

Am I ever going to look back on my life and say "Dang, I wish I had that .0002 seconds of my life back when I was switching from Date Book+ to Address Book and I had to wait for the records to load. And to think of all the times I performed that operation ... why, I have wasted nearly 10.986 seconds of my life with such ridiculous fiddlefaddle. What ravages hath time wrought! Aaaaahhhggghh!"

Probably not.

But then again, I'm not a heavy gamer. Mmmmm. Games.

And, if we all settled on things being adequate as-is, technology probably wouldn't have progressed very far.

In answer to the original question: no. My screen never got wobbly on AfterBurner.
