Hi,
It is my understanding that the VisorPhone only works on PCS (1900MHz) networks, i.e. North America.
Does handspring have plans to release a GSM 900/1800 MHz version for us European Visor owners?

Thanks...

Unfortunately neither this article nor the article on Handspring's website(http://www.handspring.com/company/pr42.jhtml) say anything about pricing.

I'm about to change my current GSM phone for an IrDA-enabled one, if the intended price of the European VisorPhone is attractive I might consider delaying my purchase until the VisorPhone is available.

Apparently this new VisorPhone will be a 900/1900 MHz, not a 900/1800/1900. Although this makes it usable in Europe and covered parts of the US, it will not take advantage of the newer 1800 European network. Am I right?

omnisky are also offering a beta test programme for a UK Visor Phone solution. Try www.omnisky.co.uk. It seems from their site that this is only open to people prepare to purchase the VP as a package with either a VPL or a VPR.

I email their support and am waiting a response from them to see if they'll allow me to beta test the phone without forking out for another visor!

Question

i've been following both the us visorphone and the omnisky release details closely and i don't understand how the visorphone will access omnisky in the uk offer mentioned above. dial-up? or wil the new visorphone have some kind of 'always on' capability like the minstrel modem as well as phone functions. that would be groovy. or does the unlimited coverage mentioned in the uk omnisky ad mean unlimited cell minutes with omnisky as the digital cell carrier? only unlimited data minutes? don't get it. and will this be the newer dual mode gsm module? anyone know what the standard is in the uk?
