The Treo "Poo Poo Head"

I've been a regular of this board for a long time now, and one thing that I have noticed is the emergence of the "Treo Poo Poo Head".

(Let me preface this by saying that, 1. I am a Treo lover, I've had one for about a year and half and will never turn back. 2. I am waiting on pins and needles to get a GSM Treo 600. and 3. Against all rationale, I will probably be an early adopter.) That said:

I've noticed if you say anything negative about a Treo, half of this message board jumps on you and tears you apart. I noticed a previous post that railed against people posting negative experiences with a Treo. As I read this, I thought, "Are we only allowed to post positive thoughts?". Wouldn't this mislead people trying to get the whole story of the Treo? What about people who needed to research if this was the phone for them? None of this seems healthy in the least bit, quite dysfunctional if you ask me. The last time I checked, there were no rules as to what you could and couldn't post about the Treo.

Thanks for listening to my ramblings, and yes, I do expect to get "flamed" for my "flaming". Should be fun.

TheHandlessKing

(And yes, I do feel the need to sign every one of my post [this is to whoever railed against that guy for signing his post])

Edit: Changed n#z@ to "Poo Poo Head", hope this makes some people happy.

the n*** word is absolutely inapropriate. i was a bit surprised to see it being used like this. the english language is rich enough to find a more suiting word. thehandlessking, i understand you probably used this word to describe a lot of negativity, and looked for the nastiest sounding word. but, please, dont call anybody on this board like this.
by the way, i too post a lot of negative things about handspring and treo - not always am i sprung upon and attacked. i think this board is pretty neutral.

This reminds me of my own reaction when somebody called me the forum nazi. I was told later that calling somebody an xyz nazi has become a common joke in the US thanks to the Seinfeld "soup nazi" episode.

W/r to handlessking's comments, I agree. Some people need to lighten up a little on this board.

Sorry for the "nazi" reference to people outside the US. Apparently, the meaning of the word is not as strong here as it is else where. And to a small degree, part of it is because of the "Soup Nazi" episode from Seinfield. But only to a small, small degree.

ok guys, then the word isn't to be taken too personally. america and germany apparently have different ways of confronting the "nazi" word. that should be my problem if i feel disturbed by the reference. i try to understand internationally, and here's one lesson for me.

i am an american and I think Nazi was a horrible choice of words, however, I also thought it was wrongh when Seinfield used it as well! IT wasn't funny then and in fact it was an afront to the millions who died by the Nazi's hand or who died fight him! take care, jay

guys,
It's just a word. Don't jump on him for using a word. That's exactly what the original post was talking about.

(Take with a grain of salt). Yes, The original word is horrid, but it has changed meanings a tad over the years, just like many other words americans use, just my 2-cents....you can leave it.

Any word that may have racial, ethnic, gender, or whatever bias should be deemed inappropriate in a forum such as this, since we reach an international audience. What may be acceptable/unacceptable to one person may not be for another.

Not really... the original post was referring to a general attitude, not specific words, and there's a big difference between the two.

Let's talk about Nazi's instead of fanatical treo adherents.

Since we can't talk about Treo Socialists, mayhap Treo Fascists would've been a better choice? Treo Communists? Treo Imperialists?

You know what really scares me? Treo Monarchists.

I think he's referring to people jumping all over someone because of one issue, be it Treo related or not.

Which I would consider almost as insulting as being called a Nazi.

Screw it, let's all drink Kool-aid.

I drank some of that stuff but it didn't kill me. Just gave me gas. How disappointing.

Contrary to popular rumor, they actually used Flavor-aid in Jamestown, not Kool-aid, however Kool-aids sales took years to recover after that. I actually just learned this fact the other day, sorta out of the blue, I thought it was funny and very odd coincidence that I also had just happened to make a posting about it here.. weird..

Jay,
Stop being such a Anti-Nazi Nazi. It is rather facist of you to try to control my freedom of speech with your own point of view.
Thanks!
Take Care, Specl
