I am a satisfied owner of a black ShockSuit that was purchased with my Visor in mind. I was looking for something that added drop protection, the ability to be worn on my hip, added as little weight and size as possible, and didn't cost as much as the Visor (this is what eliminated the Ti case). The ShockSuit meets all these objectives.
While I have not performed any drop tests, I am confident that the ShockSuit is capable of protecting the Visor from a several foot fall. I doubt it would provide complete protection against a crushing force. (aka - sitting on it).
The Visor slides down into the foam and plastic case. You need to be careful when carrying the Rhinoskin around with the Visor in it and the cover flipped back because it is possible for the Visor to slip back out the opening. The Visor fits well in the case; however, I think this is the exact same case that RhinoSkin sells for the Palm III. There is about a 1/4 inch of side-to-side space in which your Visor can move once placed in the case. This is somewhat annoying, but the slop is not enough for the screen to be obstructed by the sides of the case. There is a slot in the bottom for access for the Hot Sync connector, but I can't see how this could be used unless a direct Hot Sync cable was made for the Visor. I use the slot to push up the Visor so that I can grab the stylus. There is a holder on the outside of the case for a stylus, but I have found no need to use it since it is so easy to remove the stylus stored in the Visor. If you are looking for a case that can accomodate loose springboards or a stack of business cards, look elsewhere.
While the ShockSuit probably wasn't meant to be closed with the Visor cover attached to the Visor, it is possible. In fact, the Visor cover can be attached and removed without completely removing the Visor from the ShockSuit. This is kinda neat, but it does put a little extra pressure on the ShockSuit cover and the velcro closure. I read on another thread that someone returned 2 ShockSuits after having the velcro strips come off. A portion of the velcro did begin to lift on my case after the first few days of use, but a bit of super glue seems to have cured the problem.
I almost never take the Visor out of the case as I find it very comfortable to hold the ShockSuit in my hand or flip the cover back and allow it to prop the Visor up at an angle as it sits on my desk.
Several folks have poked fun at me for carrying this thing on my hip, but it is worth the price of never being without it. The belt clip works as advertised. It locks in with a firm click and releases with a motion that is almost impossible to perform accidentally. The ShockSuit is free to rotate when connected to the belt clip.
After dealing with Handspring, it was nice to receive a confirmation e-mail from RhinoSkin and actually receive the product in three days.
